Direct and Indirect Costs
Components of the Estimated Cost of Attendance
Tuition: The tuition expense shown on the COA is an estimated cost based on full-time enrollment of 24 credits for the fall and spring semesters combined; 12 fall credits and 12 spring. Please remember that you will be billed for the number of credits you are enrolled in.
Tuition is based on the number of credits you are enrolled in and whether you are a state resident, out-of-state or Cleburne County resident. The tuition is billed to your ASU-Beebe student account and, therefore, is a direct cost.
Fees: Basic fees are included in the COA. Actual fees may differ depending on whether you are enrolled in an online class, a lab class, or a specific fee required for your academic program. Like tuition, this is a direct cost.
Food and Housing: Food and housing may be either a direct or indirect cost depending on whether or not you live on campus.
ASU-Beebe determines expenses shown in the COA. The expenses are based on a double room occupancy and meal plan. This is also considered a direct cost.
If you live off campus with your parents or in your own home, your estimated costs are based on information provided by the College Board. This is an indirect cost.
Books and Supplies: The estimated amount for books and supplies is provided by the ASU-Beebe Bookstore. Your actual expenses may vary depending on your academic program requirements. Books and supplies are an indirect cost.
Transportation and Personal Expenses: These are indirect costs. You will not be billed for these expenses, but you will have to pay them as they occur. Indirect costs vary based on a student’s needs but are based on what is considered reasonable and modest in price (gas, clothing, toiletries, etc.).
Direct Loan Fee: Used only when a student or parent borrows a Federal Direct Student Loan or PLUS Loan. This is an indirect cost.
Note that actual expenses will vary depending on your lifestyle, marital status, and living situation. These estimated expenses are based on costs provided by the College Board.
