Business Technology - Medical Records & Health Information
AAS = Associate of Applied Science

The health information technology program teaches students the duties and responsibilities of health care managers, medical billing and coders, medical records specialists, billing and posting clerks, medical transcriptionists, business administrative assistants and office managers. Through textbooks, applications and simulations, students are given the opportunity to develop the skills required for this field of study. These skills include ICD-10-CM/PCS & CPT coding, insurance and billing, medical transcription, medical records management and reception area responsibilities.

Program Outcomes

  1. Demonstrate critical and analytical thinking skills while applying knowledge of specialized medical office terminologies, processes, insurance and regulation systems.
  2. Develop knowledge of ICD-10 CM diagnosis and PCS and CPT procedure codes for successful coding certification.
  3. Prepare graduates for employment with hospital and medical clinics through medical office internship.
