ASU-Beebe Establishes the Chuck Wisdom, Jr. Agricultural Heritage Scholarship
Posted Date: 4/9/25

ASU-Beebe is proud to announce the establishment of the Chuck Wisdom, Jr. Agricultural Heritage Scholarship, honoring the legacy of Charles "Chuck" Weldon Wisdom, Jr., a beloved 30-year faculty member, veteran, mentor and community leader.
Wisdom passed away unexpectedly on March 10, 2025. A lifelong resident of Beebe, he dedicated his life to serving his country, educating future generations, and strengthening the community he loved.
Wisdom joined ASU-Beebe in 1995, and served as assistant professor of agriculture, where he taught and mentored hundreds of students over the years. He was known for his hands-on, practical approach to agricultural education, utilizing the ASU-Beebe farm and facilities to enrich his students’ learning experiences.
"Chuck was more than a faculty member—he was a mentor, friend, and inspiration to all who knew him," said Dr. Jennifer Methvin, ASU-Beebe chancellor. "His legacy of service, both in and out of the classroom, will live on through this scholarship, which will support future students pursuing their own paths in agriculture."
In addition to teaching, Wisdom served as the longtime advisor of the Ag Club and was instrumental in organizing the annual Ag Day, which celebrated its 69th year at ASU-Beebe in February. The event welcomes more than 1,500 high school Future Farmers of America students to the campus each year. Also, since 2001, he helped organize the ASU-Beebe volunteers for the Sunshine Rodeo, a much-anticipated rodeo-themed event for students with developmental disabilities. His passion for agriculture, education and student success left an indelible mark on ASU-Beebe.
The Chuck Wisdom, Jr. Agricultural Heritage Scholarship will be awarded annually to a student attending ASU-Beebe who is pursuing studies in agriculture. The scholarship celebrates Wisdom’s lifelong commitment to the land, education, and the students whose lives he helped shape.
Beyond the classroom, Wisdom was a proud veteran of the Arkansas Air National Guard, serving for 35 years, including a tour in Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He rose to the rank of Chief Master Sergeant, following in the footsteps of his personal hero, his father, Chief Master Sergeant Wisdom, Sr. Despite a decorated military career, he remained most proud of serving side-by-side with his fellow airmen and operating equipment with unmatched skill.
A man of many passions, such as bass fishing, team roping, football games and spending time with his family in his shop, Wisdom was known by many as a legend and a loyal friend. But above all, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and family man.
“Chuck Wisdom was truly a pillar in the Beebe community and a cherished member of the ASU-Beebe family,” said Andrea Cole, associate vice chancellor for institutional advancement. “This scholarship ensures that his dedication to students and agriculture will continue to make a difference for years to come.”
