ASU-Beebe Lecture-Concert Series Presents Free Concert Featuring Runaway Planet
Posted Date: 9/10/24

Arkansas State University-Beebe invites the community to a free concert featuring Little Rock bluegrass band Runaway Planet on Thursday, Sept. 26, as part of the ASU-Beebe Lecture-Concert Series and Family Week festivities.

The concert will begin at 7 p.m. in the Centennial Bank Gym at the Owen Center on the Beebe campus. Food and drinks will be provided by Great Western Dining from 5 to 6 p.m.

The concert promises a toe-tapping good time with Runaway Planet’s signature blend of traditional and progressive bluegrass.

Formed in 2001, Runaway Planet draws inspiration from bluegrass legends such as Bill Monroe and Flatt & Scruggs, along with more contemporary influences like The Country Gentlemen and New Grass Revival. Known for their hard-driving bluegrass, three-part harmonies, and original songs, the band has won over audiences from seasoned bluegrass fans to those new to the genre.

The event is free and open to the public, thanks to the generous support of this year’s sponsors, Arkansas Radio, First Electric Cooperative and First Community Bank.

"We are thrilled to bring Runaway Planet to ASU-Beebe during Family Week as part of our Lecture-Concert Series,” said Andrea Cole, interim associate vice chancellor for Institutional Advancement and chair of the ASU-Beebe Lecture-Concert Series. “This is a wonderful opportunity for families and community members to come together for a fun evening of live music and great food."

Mark your calendars and head to ASU-Beebe for a memorable evening of music and community! For more information, visit www.asub.edu.
