ASU-Beebe Students Receive John Deere TECH Scholarships

Arkansas State University-Beebe students in the John Deere Agriculture Equipment Technology program recently received John Deere TECH scholarships from Deere and Company in partnership with the John Deere Foundation.

The scholarships are based on highest overall grade point average and exceptional work performances with their sponsoring dealers. Caleb Martin, from Sidney, received a $1,000 scholarship and is sponsored by Greenway Equipment in Newport. Christian Young, from Mowata, Louisiana, received a $500 scholarship and is sponsored by Sunshine Quality Solutions in Eunice.

In addition, several online students received John Deere TECH scholarships. Chance Seelye received a $1,000 scholarship and Lucas Hamel received a $500 scholarship. Both are sponsored by Gooseneck Implements in North Dakota. Alexander Wear received a $1,000 scholarship and Rusty Skarin received a $500 scholarship. Both are sponsored by Landmark Implements in Nebraska.

“These scholarships can be used to purchase tools and equipment needed to start their careers as full-time John Deere technicians after graduation,” said Jake Selvidge, director and advanced instructor for the ASU-Beebe John Deere agriculture equipment technology program.

The John Deere agriculture equipment technology program is designed to prepare students to excel as technicians in the high-tech, fast-paced field of agricultural mechanization. Students who complete the two-year program are awarded an Associate of Applied Science in agriculture equipment technology.
