Posted Date: 2/12/25

Arkansas State University-Beebe has announced that early bird registration for the 2025 Vanguard Discovery Camp is now open.

The Vanguard Discovery Camp provides an engaging environment where students explore STEAM topics through hands-on experiences. The camp encourages teamwork, critical thinking, and a love for lifelong learning while building friendships and igniting a passion for discovery.

This three-day hands-on science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM) camp is designed for students entering grades four through six and offers an engaging, no-pressure learning environment that encourages curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving.

Camp sessions will be held at three ASU-Beebe campus locations: Searcy from June 3-5, Heber Springs from June 10-12, and Beebe from June 17-19.

The Vanguard Discovery Camp immerses students in interactive morning STEAM sessions that build foundational knowledge in science, technology, engineering, art, and math. Each day focuses on different STEAM disciplines, with science and technology on Tuesday, engineering and technology on Wednesday, and art and math on Thursday.

Activities throughout the camp will include art and theater, first aid training, hydraulic engineering, cooking, mad scientist experiments, and more. In the afternoons, students will participate in STEAMvivor adventure-based outdoor activities that promote teamwork and exploration through hands-on challenges.

"The Vanguard Discovery Camp provides students with a unique opportunity to experience STEAM learning in a hands-on, interactive way," said Karen Drobeck, ASU-Beebe director of workforce and community development. "By combining structured learning with creative activities, we are helping students develop critical thinking and teamwork skills while fostering a love for exploration and innovation."

ASU-Beebe partners with many local businesses, including Danfoss, First Electric Cooperative, Unity Health, and others, to enhance each session of the Vanguard Discovery Camp. These partnerships provide valuable hands-on experiences, industry insights, and real-world applications of STEAM concepts, helping to inspire and educate the next generation of innovators. Through these collaborations, students gain exposure to potential career pathways while engaging in meaningful, interactive learning.

At the end of the camp, families are invited to a special end-of-week celebration event at 4:30 p.m., with student presentations beginning at 5 p.m. These celebrations are sponsored by First Security Bank in Heber Springs and Searcy, Centennial Bank in Beebe and Eoff & Associates Realty, Inc.

Early bird registration is available for $90 through April 1. After April 1, the price will increase to $100. Space is limited, so families are encouraged to register early to secure a spot.
