Marine Technology Students Compete in SkillsUSA State Contest
Arkansas State University-Beebe students who are enrolled in marine technology on the Heber Springs campus, recently competed in the state contest for SkillsUSA held in the Latimer Center at the Heber Springs campus.
“The competition consisted of seven different skill tasks that are designed to challenge their ability in marine technology and included a comprehensive test and a job interview,” said David Culwell, marine technology instructor.
Students who competed in the high school division were: Sean Duncan, Heber Springs High School; Brandon Dee, Heber Springs High School; and Matthew Ruther, home schooled.
Students who competed in the college division were: Eric Collins from Judsonia; Lucas McClure from Quitman; and Bailey Spinks from Drasco.
The Arkansas SkillsUSA awards ceremony will be held on Wednesday, April 16 in Hot Springs and the national SkillsUSA competitions will be held in Atlanta, Georgia in June.
