TRIO Program Honors Sgt. Jason M. Swindle with Special Scholarship Contribution
Posted Date: 2/3/25

The TRIO program at Arkansas State University-Beebe recently held a special celebration to present a donation in honor of Sgt. Jason M. Swindle to the Sgt. Jason M. Swindle Hero’s Legacy Scholarship.

Sgt. Jason M. Swindle made the ultimate sacrifice in 2012 while serving his country in Panjway, Afghanistan. The scholarship was created to honor Jason’s memory and support the surviving loved ones of military service members who lost their lives in the line of duty or as a result of their military service.

Throughout the year, TRIO students and staff worked tirelessly to raise funds for the scholarship, organizing a rolling bake sale, a festival booth at the Fallin’ Blackbird Festival, donations and other fundraising efforts.

“The dedication and generosity of the TRIO program and the ASU-Beebe community mean so much to our family,” said Chelsey Swindle, Jason’s surviving spouse. “Seeing the love, hard work, and heart poured into supporting this scholarship is truly moving. Jason’s legacy is one of bravery, dedication, and selflessness, and knowing this scholarship will help veterans and their families pursue their education and career goals is incredibly meaningful. We are beyond grateful for the support that keeps his memory alive.”

During the ceremony, Sgt. Swindle’s family, his widow, Chelsey, and their two sons, Paxton and JJ, were recognized and honored. Attendees received a special honor pin as a symbol of remembrance and gratitude, and a small reception followed the presentation.
